Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior was honored with the EFE Trophy for Best Ibero-American Player 2024 on Monday at the Valdebebas Sports City.
The award was presented by Miguel Ángel Oliver, the president of the EFE Agency, in a ceremony that also included the presence of club legend Roberto Carlos, who won the same accolade in 1998.
Oliver praised Vinicius for his exceptional performances with Real Madrid, noting his impressive statistics and vital role in the team’s successes.
The Brazilian winger, who is said to be of Cameroonian descent, was crucial with big contributions in finals, including the Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup, were recognized as pivotal to the club’s achievements.
This marks Vinicius’s third time receiving the EFE Trophy, and he expressed his appreciation for the recognition. “I am very happy to win this award again. It reflects the season I’ve had, but I want to acknowledge my teammates, as none of this would be possible without them,” he stated.
“They handle the toughest challenges, and I hope this isn’t the last award—I aim for more accolades like this. We ended the year on a positive note, and we’re entering the new one with great enthusiasm, ready to give our best.”
