Ugandan star Allan Okello is set to stay at Vipers SC beyond the January transfer window, despite attracting significant interest from top clubs in Tanzania and Egypt.
The six-time Ugandan Premier League champions have firmly ruled out the possibility of letting their star playmaker leave during the mid-season window. Okello, widely regarded as the best player in Uganda currently, has drawn attention from Tanzanian giants Simba SC and Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids FC, both reportedly preparing bids to secure his services.
However, Vipers SC remains resolute in its stance. The club considers the 24-year-old instrumental to their ambitions of reclaiming the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League title and the Uganda Cup. Okello, who still has 18 months left on his contract, is seen as an essential piece in the team’s quest for domestic success.
A senior source at Vipers SC revealed that the club has no intention of negotiating with any suitor in January. “Allan Okello is unsellable at the moment,” the source stated, adding that management might only consider offers that align with their valuation during the summer transfer window.
For now, Vipers SC fans can look forward to more brilliance from Okello as he continues to shine at St. Mary’s Stadium, anchoring the team’s aspirations for silverware.
