Dr. Patrice Motsepe, President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), began a two-day tour of the nations hosting the CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) with a visit to Tanzania on Thursday, December 19, 2024.
During his visit, Dr. Motsepe toured both Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, where he inspected the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium to assess its preparedness for the upcoming CHAN matches.
He expressed gratitude to Tanzania’s President, Her Excellency Samia Suluhu Hassan, for her dedication and support towards the advancement of football in the country.
Additionally, the CAF President held discussions with Zanzibar President Hussein Mwinyi at the State House.
He was accompanied by key figures including CAF’s 4th Vice-President Seidou Mbombo Njoya, Chairperson of the CHAN Organizing Committee, Wallace Karia, and CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba.
On Friday morning, the delegation arrived in Nairobi, Kenya, to meet with President William Ruto and the leaders of the Kenya Football Federation.
In the afternoon, Dr. Motsepe will continue to Kampala, Uganda, for discussions with President Yoweri Museveni and officials from the Uganda Football Federation (FUFA).
