Galatasaray, the reigning champions of Turkey, have commenced discussions with Lyon regarding the potential acquisition of Super Eagles forward Gift Orban.
Despite Lyon enjoying a solid season under coach Pierre Sage, Orban has struggled to make an impact, featuring in only five matches this season.
His limited playing time has positioned him as a viable candidate for departure, particularly as Lyon aims to sell players to improve their financial situation.
The 22-year-old forward has attracted interest from several clubs in the German Bundesliga, including RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, and Stuttgart. However, Galatasaray could potentially surpass these clubs in securing his signature.
According to Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Trabzonspor has also engaged in talks with Lyon regarding Orban.
Given Orban’s lack of opportunities on the pitch, Galatasaray may intensify their pursuit during the upcoming January transfer window.
The Turkish giants are in need of reinforcements, especially with star striker Mauro Icardi sidelined for the remainder of the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Additionally, Victor Osimhen is expected to depart at the end of the campaign, making Orban a promising replacement for the club.
