English-born defender of Ghanaian heritage, Josh Acheampong has officially signed a long-term contract with Chelsea.
The club announced on Wednesday that the promising talent has committed to a new deal that runs through 2029.
Acheampong’s future at Chelsea had been uncertain in recent months, as negotiations between the player’s representatives and the club stalled.
However, discussions recently gained momentum, leading to the renewal.
The defender made his full debut last week, starting in Chelsea’s Europa Conference League win over Astana in Kazakhstan.
He was also included as a substitute in Chelsea’s victory over Brentford on Sunday.
Acheampong has represented Chelsea at various youth levels but has yet to make an appearance for the senior England team.
Eligible to play for Ghana, he has already showcased his talents internationally, featuring for England’s Under-17 team in the 2023 European Championships and the Under-17 World Cup later that year.
