Ghanaian defender Maxwell Woledzi has shared his excitement after helping Fredrikstad FK to annex the Norwegian Cup for the first time in 18-years.
The 22-year-old centre-back was pivotal when Fredrikstad FK defeated Molde in the final to annex the title at the Ullevaal Stadion.
Fredrikstad FK triumphed over Molde 5-4 on penalties following a pulsating goalless draw in regular time.
“I am happy, grateful and honoured to have experienced this with the best team and with the best support. This massive win would have never been possible without the energy and unwavering support of you all Sorsia and all the supporters” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Woledzi made six appearances in the Cup competition for Fredrikstad, who defied all odds to end their trophy drought. In all competitions, the talented defender made 35 appearances for his outfit.
Meanwhile, the former FC Nordjaelland marksman was ranked second in interceptions (54) in the Norway Eliteserien as Fredrikstad FK finished the league with the third best defence.
He joined Fredrikstad FK in August 2023, signing a contract that will him at the club until the summer of 2026.
