Falkirk fell to a crushing 5-2 defeat against Ayr United in the Scottish Championship, despite a spirited display by Italian-born Ghanaian winger Alfie Agyemang.
The match started on a high note for Falkirk when Agyemang’s pinpoint assist set up Ross MacIver’s opener in the 2nd minute. The winger was a constant threat on the flanks, and his hard work paid off again in the 36th minute as he scored Falkirk’s second goal, showing clinical composure in front of goal after a brilliant pass from Sean Mackie.
However, Falkirk’s momentum was short-lived. A red card for Luke Graham in the 8th minute left them vulnerable, and Ayr United took full advantage. Connor McLennan equalized in the 34th minute, and further goals from Ben Dempsey, Scott McMann, and an Alfie Bavidge brace sealed a dominant victory for the hosts at Somerset Park.
The defeat sees Falkirk lose ground in their league table push, but Agyemang’s standout performance gives fans something to cheer about. They face Hamilton Academical next, looking to bounce back.
