Chelsea and Senegal striker Nicolas Jackson has expressed confidence in his potential to succeed in football from a young age.
Starting his career with Senegalese club Casa Sports, Jackson moved to Spain, joining Villarreal B. He spent a season on loan at Mirandes, a second-tier Spanish side, before securing a spot in Villarreal’s first team for two seasons.
In 2023, the Gambian-born forward signed an eight-year contract with Chelsea for £32 million, after making the move from Villarreal.
Since then, the 23-year-old has impressed in the Premier League, scoring 8 goals and providing 3 assists in 14 matches under manager Enzo Maresca.
Reflecting on his journey, Jackson shared that he always believed in his future success.
“I knew since I was young [that I will be successful in football] because I remember my dad asked me when I was young, maybe at age four, five, six or eight,” Jackson told YouTube channel, Greatest Sport.
“We were young and he asked us what we wanted to do and I said a football player and I remember he said it is difficult. And then my brother said [he will do] business. It is not like something I got scared of being successful.
“I just said that I am good in this and I have to do it. I don’t need to smoke, I don’t need to drink. So just believe what I want to be,” he added.
