Algeria to host FIFA series tournament in June 2025

Yt

Algeria is set to host the second edition of the FIFA Series tournament during the international window from June 2 to 10, 2025.

The event, following the first edition in March 2024, will feature four teams competing in a format that allows each side to play two matches.

The FIFA international calendar for 2025 includes five windows for men’s national teams.

These align with key global events such as the Concacaf Gold Cup, scheduled from June 14 to July 6, and the Club World Cup, taking place in the United States from June 15 to July 13.

For African teams, the windows span March 17-25, June 2-10, September 1-9, October 6-14, and November 10-18, incorporating World Cup qualifiers and preparatory matches for the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Morocco 2025.

Algeria’s schedule for 2025 includes six World Cup qualifying matches and at least four friendlies, with the June tournament offering an opportunity to prepare and rotate players.

The tournament will feature two matches per team within the limited window, as was the case in the first edition in March 2024, where Algeria hosted South Africa, Bolivia, and Andorra.

In that initial tournament, Algeria, under coach Vladimir Petkovic, defeated Bolivia 3-2 and drew 3-3 with South Africa.

South Africa and Bolivia also played Andorra, resulting in a 1-1 draw for the former and a 1-0 victory for the latter.

The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has already agreed to host the June 2025 edition but plans to use different venues from the inaugural tournament.

The selected stadiums—Hocine Aït Ahmed in Tizi-Ouzou, Ali La Pointe in Douéra, and Miloud Hadefi in Oran—will be narrowed down to two for the event.

This decision, along with the announcement of the three participating teams, is expected in the coming months.

The tournament will provide the Algerian national team, known as the Fennecs, with a valuable opportunity to strengthen their squad and prepare for a busy schedule.

With the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and AFCON Morocco 2025 on the horizon, the FIFA Series matches will play a key role in fine-tuning tactics and building momentum for a challenging end to the year.
