Sam Amo-Ameyaw will become an important player for Southampton – Southampton Manager

Southampton manager Russell Martin has expressed confidence in the potential of Ghanaian youngster Sam Amo-Ameyaw, emphasizing a structured development plan aimed at nurturing his skills.

Despite being regarded as one of the club’s most promising prospects, Amo-Ameyaw has found limited opportunities to showcase his talent this season, primarily due to the demanding nature of the Premier League.

Martin detailed the tailored development strategy for Amo-Ameyaw, highlighting the collaborative efforts with the performance department to ensure the player’s growth aligns with the team’s requirements.

He praised Amo-Ameyaw’s unique abilities, acknowledging that while he differs physically from teammate Tyler Dibling, he has successfully earned a spot on the Premier League bench.

“Sam’s got a development plan the same way they all do and we spend a lot of time talking to the performance department.

“We are making sure we marry up what we require from him on the pitch specifically for him as a player and his position with what he does in the gym.

“He’s an outstanding talent, very different to Tyler (Dibling) physically but Sam’s done really well to get himself on the bench in the Premier League and to stay on there.

“I have no doubt at some point he will be a really good player for this club and he’s getting better all the time, we’re seeing things we really like from him.”

Ameyaw has made two substitute appearances for Southampton this season in the Premier League.
