FIFPRO Men’s World 11 for 2024 announced

FIFPRO 2024 Onze De Lannee

The FIFPRO Men’s World 11 for 2024 was unveiled on Monday, 9 December, by the International Federation of Professional Footballers’ Associations (FIFPRO).

This prestigious lineup, compiled from votes cast by over 21,000 male professional footballers across 70 countries, showcases the standout players who have had a significant impact over the past year.

The 2024 team is largely dominated by two European footballing powerhouses: Real Madrid, the reigning European champions, and Manchester City, who each boast a strong presence in the selection.

Real Madrid sees six of its stars make the cut, while Manchester City is represented by four players.

Among Real Madrid’s selections is the veteran Toni Kroos, who retired from international football earlier this year.

The team also features debutants such as Dani Carvajal and Antonio Rüdiger.

For Manchester City, Ederson and Rodri both make their first appearance in the prestigious World 11.

Salah

Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk is the only player from a club outside of Madrid or Manchester City to make the lineup.

This marks his fourth consecutive appearance in the World 11, cementing his reputation as one of the top central defenders in world football.

One notable absence from this year’s World 11 is the lack of African representation.

Despite stellar performances from players like Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Ademola Lookman of Atalanta, neither player made the final list.

This omission has sparked questions and discussions among football fans, as both Salah and Lookman were instrumental in their respective teams’ success in the past year.

The full FIFPRO Men’s World 11 for 2024 is as follows:

Goalkeeper:

  • Ederson (Manchester City, Brazil)

Defenders:

  • Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid, Spain)
  • Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool, Netherlands)
  • Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid, Germany)

Midfielders:

  • Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid, England)
  • Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City, Belgium)
  • Toni Kroos (Real Madrid, Germany)
  • Rodri (Manchester City, Spain)

Attackers:

  • Erling Haaland (Manchester City, Norway)
  • Kylian Mbappé (Paris Saint-Germain/Real Madrid, France)
  • Vinicius Jr (Real Madrid, Brazil)

The selection process, which is based on votes from professional players themselves, highlights the immense talent across the globe, with Real Madrid and Manchester City continuing their dominance.

However, the absence of African players has certainly raised eyebrows, leaving many to question what factors might have influenced this year’s selections.
