Ghanaian defender Maxwell Woledzi has helped Fredrikstad FK to secure the Norwegian Cup for the first time in 18 years.

The 22-year-old centre-back was pivotal when Fredrikstad FK defeated Molde in the final to annex the title at the Ullevaal Stadion.

Fredrikstad FK triumphed over Molde 5-4 on penalties following a pulsating goalless draw in regular time.

Woledzi made six appearances in the Cup competition for Fredrikstad, who defied all odds to end their trophy drought. In all competitions, the talented defender made 35 appearances for his outfit.

Meanwhile, the former FC Nordjaelland marksman was ranked second in interceptions (54) in the Norway Eliteserien as Fredrikstad FK finished the league with the third best defence.

He joined the club in August 2023, signing a contract that will him at the club until the summer of 2026.
