Moroccan giants RS Berkane showcased their class in the CAF Confederation Cup, securing a commanding 3-1 win over Stellenbosch at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, South Africa.
This triumph marks Berkane’s second consecutive victory in Group Two, solidifying their position as group leaders.
Berkane wasted no time asserting dominance. In just the 5th minute, Youssef Zaghoudi broke the deadlock, capitalizing on early pressure. The relentless Moroccan side continued their onslaught, and Zaghoudi struck again in the 16th minute, completing his brace and securing his first African double.
The second half saw Berkane maintain their control. Reda Khairi added a spectacular third goal from long range in the 82nd minute, cementing their dominance. Stellenbosch managed to pull one back in the 88th minute through Shomani Botsaka, but it was little more than a consolation.
With this victory, RS Berkane sits atop Group Two with a perfect six points from two matches, while Stellenbosch remains at the bottom, yet to secure a point.
Berkane’s impressive form underscores their status as strong contenders for this season’s Confederation Cup title.
