Ghana’s Baba Iddrisu has been dealt a devastating blow, as the UD Almeria midfielder will miss the remainder of the 2024/25 season following a knee injury sustained last week.
The 28-year-old enforcer has been diagnosed with a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee, ruling him out of action for the rest of the campaign.
After undergoing further medical evaluations, Iddrisu was confirmed to have a grade 2 sprain of the internal lateral ligament in his left knee, as per club doctors. Sebastián Jiménez, the club’s head of medical staff, revealed that Iddrisu will need surgery, but he will first undergo a period of rest for the sprained ligament.
“The suspicions we had are now real and after consulting with several teammates we have agreed that Baba will have to undergo surgery, but he first has to recover from the sprained internal lateral ligament,” Jiménez stated.
Before the injury, Iddrisu had been a key presence for Almeria, playing in 10 league matches this season. His absence will be a significant setback for both his club and country.
