The Executive Committee of the Togolese Football Federation (FTF) has issued a formal call to clubs regarding the ongoing issue of unpaid salaries for players and coaches.
In an official press release, the FTF highlighted growing concerns about the delayed or unmet salary payments at several clubs, which have become a significant topic of discussion within Togolese football.
With less than ten days remaining before the resumption of the national first division championship, the FTF has urged clubs to fulfil their financial commitments to players and coaching staff.
“The Executive Committee validates the general regulations, competitions, and disciplinary code for the 2024 edition and reminds clubs of the need to respect FIFA’s provisions relating to the payment of players’ salaries in order to avoid contractual disputes,” the statement read.
This move comes as the FTF seeks to address a situation that has impacted the smooth operation of the domestic football scene.
As the start of the new season approaches, the Federation is keen to prevent any further disruptions caused by salary disputes, which have often led to tensions between clubs and their personnel.
The FTF’s call serves as a reminder to clubs about the importance of complying with international standards, particularly FIFA’s regulations, which are designed to protect the rights of players and coaches.
With the league season set to begin soon, the Federation hopes that this public reminder will prompt clubs to take immediate action to resolve the financial challenges faced by their employees.
