AS Maniema Union’s forward, Jephté Kitambala, has set the tone ahead of their CAF Champions League clash with Raja Casablanca.
Following their opening-day draw against Mamelodi Sundowns, Kitambala is optimistic about a breakthrough in front of their home crowd.
“I have never played in the group stage of the Champions League. Like my teammates, this is the first time I have played in the group stage of the C1. I try to share the little experience I have with the whole group. The Champions League is a very high level and it is an opportunity for us to show that we are progressing,” Kitambala stated during Friday’s press briefing.
With just two goals in five matches this campaign, Maniema Union is under pressure to sharpen their attacking edge. “We are working hard with the coach to improve our finishing and score goals. And we are sure that, from tomorrow, there will be improvement on the field,” Kitambala assured.
Victory at home is crucial as Maniema Union seeks to navigate the challenges of Group B and keep their quarterfinal hopes alive.
