Lifeline funding approved for Mouloudia Oujda amid financial struggles
The football club Mouloudia Oujda is set to receive a much-needed financial boost as part of a newly signed partnership agreement with the Oujda Angad municipal council, led by Lakhdar Khaddouch.
This annual subsidy, valued at 100 million centimes, aims to alleviate the club’s ongoing financial struggles.
According to information obtained by L’Eperon du Parlement, the agreement will also benefit Union Islamique d’Oujda, which has signed a similar deal with the council.
The funding comes as a critical intervention for Mouloudia Oujda, a club currently grappling with a crippling debt crisis and facing the threat of relegation to the second division due to its poor league standings.
Sources indicate that Lakhdar Khaddouch has been the sole consistent supporter of Mouloudia Oujda over the past three years, providing assistance in 2021, 2022, 2023, and now 2024.
This unwavering support has been vital in keeping the team afloat amidst an acute shortage of sponsors.
The financial injection will provide some relief to the club, nicknamed “Sinbad,” as it battles mounting debts and a lack of financial resources.
However, with relegation looming, the club’s management faces immense pressure to stabilize its finances and improve its performance on the pitch.
The subsidy reflects a broader effort by the municipal council to support local sports, but it remains to be seen whether this financial intervention will be enough to reverse Mouloudia Oujda’s fortunes in the current season.
As the club continues to navigate challenging circumstances, fans and stakeholders hope this funding will act as a turning point in rebuilding the team’s legacy.
