Dutch-Togolese footballer, Cody Gakpo, has described the past week as a major one for the Reds, concluding in a 2-0 victory against Manchester City at Anfield on Sunday in the Premier League.
This win, secured by Gakpo’s early goal and a late penalty from Mohamed Salah, has increased Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League by nine points
Gakpo also scored against Real Madrid in the Champions League in midweek, which also wrapped up in a 2-0 win.
Reflecting on the week, Gakpo commented, “Yeah, I think [it has been] a big week. Big games, even the first one against Southampton after the internationals.”
As December looms with a packed schedule, Gakpo is already focusing on Liverpool’s next challenge, a match against Newcastle United on Wednesday night
“They said already in the dressing room, ‘Recovery starts now’, so we have to switch our minds already,” he said.
Cody Gakpo has worked his way into the starting lineup of Arne Slot after seeing his game time limited at the start.
