Burak Yilmaz, a former Player of the Year in the Turkish Super Lig, has expressed confidence that Galatasaray will secure a superior striker than Victor Osimhen if the Nigerian decides to leave the club.
Osimhen has made a massive impact since joining Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Serie A’s Napoli, quickly becoming a key player in coach Orkan Buruk’s squad.
Despite his success, there are ongoing concerns about Osimhen’s future, particularly as he has long aspired to play for a major club, ideally in the English Premier League.
Reports indicate that Galatasaray are keen to retain him permanently and has initiated discussions with Napoli regarding a transfer.
However, Yilmaz, who won the Super Lig Player of the Season award in 2012/2013, believes that Galatasaray’s legacy of strong strikers will continue regardless of Osimhen’s status.
“Galatasaray have always had the best goalkeepers and strikers. If Icardi is not at Galatasaray, Osimhen will be there. If Osimhen is not there, someone better will be,” Yimaz told 343, per Le Marca Sports.
Osimhen’s market value is currently estimated at €75 million, which could pose financial challenges for Galatasaray if they pursue a permanent deal.
