CAF Confederation Cup: USM Alger crushes Orapa United 6-0 in Group C opener
USM Alger delivered a ruthless performance to thrash Botswana’s Orapa United 6-0 in their opening Group C match of the CAF Confederation Cup on Wednesday evening.
The Algerian side asserted dominance from the onset, handing their opponents a humbling defeat at home.
The match was one-sided from the start, with Aymen Mahious Belkacemi scoring twice in the opening 15 minutes. His first came in the 5th minute, heading home a well-placed cross from Ben Zaza. Belkacemi doubled his tally 10 minutes later, converting a clever pass from Ghesha into a powerful finish.
A defensive error by Orapa United gifted USM Alger their third goal, as Redouani pounced to score with ease. Just before halftime, Ali Musa capitalized on another defensive lapse, combining with Belkacemi to add a fourth in first-half injury time.
The onslaught continued after the break, with Nabil Lamara finding the back of the net in the 48th minute and Islam Merili sealing the emphatic victory in the 71st minute.
The win propels USM Alger to the top of Group C with three points and an impressive goal difference, while Orapa United is left reeling at the bottom of the standings.
USM Alger’s statement performance sets the tone for the competition, showcasing their intent to contend for the title.
