Morocco forward Soufiane Rahimi escapes red card after blow incident in Al-Ain clash against Al Ahli

Morocco international Soufiane Rahimi was fortunate to escape a red card following a blow incident in Al-Ain’s Asian Champions League clash against Al Ahli.

The forward was called to action on Monday night when his Al-Ain outfit hosted Al Ahli in the fifth round of the Champions League campaign.

Rahimi deliberately hit Al Ahli right-back Ali Majrashi in the 63rd-minute, sparking a lot of controversies in the crunch encounter.

However, unhappy Al Ahli players and coaching staff demanded for the dismissal of the Moroccan forward but the referee ignored and showed him yellow card.

In a dramatic turn of event, Al Ahli players attempted to clash Rahimi for his action in the encounter but the referee intervened.

Meanwhile, Rahimi rendered an apology to Al Ahli for his behavior in the course of the crucial game.

The Morocco international has racked up 4 goals in the Champions League campaign this season and is currently second joint-top scorer with Cristiano Ronaldo, and Al Hilal duo of Serbian Aleksandar Mitrovic and Salem Al-Dawsari.
