Otto Addo’s fate hangs as Ghana FA prepares Judgment Day

Otto Addo shares insights behind selection of assistants for Black Stars

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is poised to make a critical decision on head coach Otto Addo’s future following Ghana’s disastrous 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

Ghana’s campaign was nothing short of a nightmare. A dismal run began with a 1-0 defeat to Angola, followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger and back-to-back losses to Sudan. Failing to secure a single victory, Ghana ended at the bottom of Group F with just three points, while Angola dominated with 14, Sudan secured eight, and Niger claimed seven.

Fans and pundits have called for Addo’s resignation, but the embattled coach remains defiant. After a 2-1 loss to Niger in the final match at Accra Sports Stadium, Addo dismissed the backlash, saying, “People shouting for me to resign don’t affect me. If I had quit easily, I wouldn’t have become a player or coach.”

As tension brews, Ghanaians eagerly await Wednesday’s decisive meeting, which could reshape the future of Ghanaian football. Will the GFA stick with Addo, or is a new era on the horizon?
