Union Khenchela bolsters coaching staff amid season struggles
Union Khenchela has officially announced additions to its coaching team, aiming to strengthen its technical lineup as the club navigates a challenging season.
The club has appointed Abdelhamid Arousi as the team’s physical coach, a decision made public on Tuesday through the club’s official Facebook page.
The move follows the appointment of head coach Chérif Hajjar and assistant coach Abdelghani Awamri, who joined the team after the departure of Tunisian coach Hatem El-Messaoui.
Hajjar now faces the critical task of guiding Union Khenchela back on track, starting with an upcoming match against Constantine Youth, scheduled for Friday at the Hammam Ammar Stadium as part of the ninth round of the professional league.
Union Khenchela has seen an inconsistent start this season, leading to the mid-season coaching change.
El-Messaoui’s exit came after a series of mixed results that left the club struggling in the standings, with just nine points from their first eight games.
The team’s record currently stands at two wins, three draws, and three losses, a performance that has frustrated fans and prompted management to pursue new strategies to improve.
The recent changes reflect Union Khenchela’s determination to turn the season around, placing their trust in Hajjar’s leadership and the expertise of his newly-formed support staff.
As they prepare to host Constantine Youth, Hajjar and his team will be under pressure to deliver improved results and strengthen their standing in the league.
The reshuffling of the technical team signals a fresh start for Union Khenchela, with club administration and supporters alike hoping the new appointments will bring stability and momentum for the rest of the season.
