Nigerian striker Victor Boniface has returned to training with Bayer Leverkusen following a recent car accident, with hopes of joining the squad for their Bundesliga fixture against Werder Bremen this Saturday. His return marks a relief for both his team and fans after Boniface sustained minor injuries in the incident last Sunday.
The 23-year-old missed Leverkusen’s UEFA Champions League tie against Brest midweek, which concluded without his presence on the pitch.
Bayer Leverkusen’s head coach, Xabi Alonso, confirmed Boniface’s participation in Friday’s training session and addressed his potential availability for the upcoming league match.
Alonso commented on the striker’s recovery, saying, “We still have one more day to recover, and we want to prepare well again today.
We will decide after the final training whether Boni will come along.”
He added that the club has a strong squad with players ready to step in whenever needed, expressing confidence in the team’s depth.
Boniface has quickly become an integral part of Leverkusen’s attacking lineup since his move to the Bundesliga champions, and his return to fitness will be a welcome boost.
