Professional league committee visits Tangier to assess village sportif stadium
A committee from the National Professional Football League arrived in Tangier on Saturday to inspect the Village Sportif Stadium, as part of efforts to evaluate the facility’s readiness to host matches.
The Infrastructure Commission of the Professional League is set to conduct a thorough assessment of the stadium, located near the Grand Stade de Tanger.
This visit comes after the pitch underwent complete renovations, making it suitable once again for competitive games.
The inspection will determine if the venue meets the league’s standards to accommodate official matches.
Supporters of Ittihad Tanger have high hopes for the outcome of the inspection.
Many fans are eagerly awaiting the league’s decision to approve the Village Sportif Stadium as a home venue, especially since the team has been left in limbo following the closure of the Grand Stade de Tanger.
Since then, Ittihad Tanger has been forced to play its matches at various other venues, which has posed logistical challenges and affected the team’s performance.
The closure of the Grand Stade, which served as the primary venue for Ittihad Tanger’s games, left the club and its fans without a permanent home ground.
As a result, the team has been struggling to find a consistent base, often shifting between different stadiums across the region.
This situation has not only disrupted the team’s routine but also affected fan attendance, as supporters have had to travel to different locations to watch their team play.
If the Village Sportif Stadium receives approval, it would mark a significant relief for the club and its fans, providing them with a stable venue until the issues with the Grand Stade are resolved.
For now, all eyes are on the Professional League’s committee and their upcoming decision.
The inspection and subsequent decision are expected to play a critical role in determining where Ittihad Tanger will host its matches for the remainder of the season, a matter of utmost importance for the club’s aspirations.
