Morocco’s national football team faces an anxious wait as key players Yassine Bounou and Nayef Aguerd undergo medical tests to determine their fitness for the upcoming second-leg match against the Central African Republic on Tuesday.

The medical evaluations are set to confirm whether the duo can recover in time to feature in this crucial fixture.

Bounou, the team’s first-choice goalkeeper, experienced muscle tightness in his thigh during the recent match, which has raised doubts about his readiness.

Given the short time frame between the games, there is concern that rushing his recovery could exacerbate the injury.

A period of rest might be required to ensure his long-term fitness.

Similarly, Nayef Aguerd is also under observation after sustaining an injury.

The coaching staff is keen to avoid risking his condition, especially with important matches on the horizon.

Head coach Walid Regragui emphasized the importance of assessing Aguerd’s injury carefully, hinting that adjustments to the defensive lineup could be necessary if the center-back is ruled out.

Speaking on the matter, Regragui said, “We need to confirm the extent of Nayef Aguerd’s injury, and if he is not fit, we might have to make new changes for Tuesday’s match by relying on players like Abqar and Harkass in central defense.”

The potential absences of Bounou and Aguerd have put the team’s plans in a delicate position, but Regragui remains hopeful that his side will adapt accordingly.

Both players have been pivotal in Morocco’s defensive setup, and their possible unavailability would require tactical adjustments as the team seeks to secure another victory over the Central African Republic.

With the return match approaching, all eyes are on the medical team’s evaluation and the coach’s final decision.

The national team will be looking to maintain its momentum and ensure the necessary steps are taken to safeguard the players’ health while continuing their journey toward AFCON 2025 qualification.
