Besiktas legend Kahveci urges Galatasaray to create more chances for Osimhen

Besiktas legend Nihat Kahveci has expressed confidence in Victor Osimhen’s ability to become a prolific goal scorer for Galatasaray, provided that his teammates create more opportunities for him. This comes after the Nigerian international made his debut for the Turkish champions, contributing an assist in their commanding 5-0 victory over Rizespor in a Super Lig match on Saturday.

Kahveci, a former forward who enjoyed a successful career with Besiktas, winning two Turkish Cups and a Super Cup, was impressed by Osimhen’s performance.

He praised the striker’s physical attributes and athleticism, suggesting that Osimhen’s impact could be even greater if Galatasaray’s players worked to get him into more goal-scoring positions.

“I didn’t see Osimhen as lacking in physicality.

He showed what an athletic player he is.

I saw his jumping advantage in all the cut balls,” Kahveci said in an interview with Yenisafak.

He also highlighted an opportunity where Osimhen nearly scored, saying, “Goals were expected from Osimhen.

Batshuayi gave him a very nice pass, I think he hit the ball correctly with the inside of his foot, and the goalkeeper saved it.”

Despite not finding the back of the net, Osimhen’s overall play received praise from the former Turkey international.

Kahveci noted that the Nigerian striker didn’t get many clear scoring opportunities during the match, pointing to a need for better support from his teammates.

“Apart from that, did he get into many clear positions? Galatasaray players did not get him into many positions like that,” he remarked.

Kahveci was also impressed with Osimhen’s contributions on the defensive side of the game.

“I really liked his directing the ball to the goalkeeper and defenders when it came to him, and his defensive role and struggle in those areas when the ball was in Rizespor,” he added.

This work rate and willingness to engage in defensive duties demonstrate Osimhen’s versatility and commitment to the team’s success.

The former Real Sociedad and Villarreal CF star believes that with more chances created for him, Osimhen will become a goal-scoring force for Galatasaray.

“Osimhen scores a lot of goals. He searches a lot, he is very active.

He is always involved. If you create more positions for him, he will score a lot of goals in Galatasaray,” Kahveci asserted.

Galatasaray will look to build on their impressive win against Rizespor as they prepare to face Gaziantep on Tuesday.

With Kahveci’s words in mind, the team may focus on harnessing Osimhen’s potential by providing him with more goal-scoring opportunities.
