Ahmed Touba, the Algerian international defender, has signed a one-season loan deal with Belgian club KV Mechelen. This move marks his return to Belgium after a series of international club experiences.
At 26 years old, Touba has built an impressive career across various European leagues.
His journey began in Belgium with OH Louvain before he moved to Bulgaria to play for Beroe Stara Zagora.
He then continued his career in the Netherlands with RKC Waalwijk, before joining Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey. From there, he was loaned to US Lecce in Italy.
Touba’s return to Belgium sees him join KV Mechelen, a club that previously hosted notable players like Islam Slimani, who returned to the Belgian side after a spell in Brazil with Curitiba.
The defender, who has earned 14 caps for Algeria, has a history of frequent moves, having played for six clubs during his formative years from 2006 to 2016.
These include stints with Tournai, Mouscron, Standard de Liège, Valenciennes, Zulte Waregem, and Club Brugge.
Touba’s latest move underscores his adaptability and ongoing quest for new challenges within European football.
His experience across different leagues and teams is expected to bring valuable depth to KV Mechelen’s defensive line.
