Nottingham Forest nearing £20m deal for Egypt’s Omar Marmoush
Nottingham Forest are in advanced negotiations with Eintracht Frankfurt to secure the signing of Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush, with the club pushing to finalize the deal before the transfer deadline.
Sources suggest that Forest, keen to strengthen their attacking options, have reached a crucial stage in talks over a potential £20 million transfer for the versatile striker.
Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo has been searching for a new striker ahead of the upcoming Premier League fixtures, with Marmoush emerging as a key target.
According to The Telegraph, the 24-year-old is now Forest’s top choice after the club’s failed attempts to sign Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah and Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez.
The goal is to have Marmoush available for selection in time for Forest’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the City Ground this Saturday.
Marmoush, who joined Eintracht Frankfurt from Wolfsburg in 2023, is contracted with the Bundesliga club until 2027.
However, Forest are determined to bring the Egypt international to the Premier League, despite the significant financial investment required.
Having been valued at €22 million by transfer markets, Marmoush is considered one of the most valuable Egyptian players, second only to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.
The deal, if completed, would make Marmoush the first Egyptian player in Nottingham Forest’s history and the third currently in the Premier League, following in the footsteps of Salah and Ipswich Town’s captain, Sam Morsy.
His arrival could be a game-changer for Forest, with the Egyptian forward known for his ability to play across various positions in the attacking lineup—something that would provide a much-needed boost to Forest’s forward structure.
Marmoush’s name has been on the radar of Premier League clubs for some time.
In April, renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Liverpool had expressed interest in the Egyptian forward.
Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, and Newcastle United have also been linked with the player in recent months.
However, it now appears that Nottingham Forest are in pole position to secure the 24-year-old’s signature.
Marmoush, who began his career in Egypt with Wadi Degla’s youth academy, made the move to Germany at the age of 18 when he signed with Wolfsburg.
He also had successful loan spells at FC St. Pauli and VfB Stuttgart before cementing his place in the Bundesliga with Frankfurt.
Last season, Marmoush enjoyed a productive campaign, contributing 17 goals and six assists in 41 appearances, playing a pivotal role in helping Frankfurt secure a sixth-place finish in the German top-flight.
In his pursuit of achieving his Premier League dream, Marmoush switched representation in 2022, signing with CAA Stellar Sports in hopes of securing a move to English football.
That dream now seems closer than ever, as Forest are working to wrap up the deal swiftly.
With Forest eager to bolster their squad ahead of the Premier League season, Marmoush’s potential signing could mark a significant coup for the club.
His versatility and attacking prowess would make him a valuable addition to Forest’s squad as they look to improve their fortunes in the top tier of English football.
As the transfer window draws to a close, Nottingham Forest will be hoping to make Marmoush their marquee signing of the summer, injecting fresh talent into their frontline in a bid to elevate their performance in the Premier League.
