University source clarifies controversial appointment of Belkchour as Morocco Throne Cup final delegate
The source emphasized that Belkchour was appointed not as the president of the Professional Football League, but as a university member.
“The Throne Cup competitions are under the jurisdiction of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), and it is the Federation that appoints the match delegate, who must, according to the law, be a university member,” the source explained.
The official further stated, “Before Belkchour became the president of the League, he was a university member. Where were the critics today when he was presiding over the general assemblies of clubs?”
The appointment was made unanimously by the university members, recognizing Belkchour’s expertise in the regulations and his familiarity with the duties of match delegates.
Prominent figures such as Mohamed Nassiri, Karim Alaoui, Abu Al-Qasim, and Abdel Latif Al-Aski have all previously served as delegates for the Throne Cup final.
However, the appointment has not been well-received by followers and fans on social media.
Many argue that as the president of the Professional Football League, Belkchour should have been present in the VIP stand alongside FRMF President Fouzi Lekjaa and other sports dignitaries, rather than on the field.
