ES Tunis central defender Hani Amamou is expected to leave the club as his contract approaches its expiration on June 30.

Amamou’s recent absence from the squad list for the match against Club Sportif Sfaxien raised eyebrows among fans and analysts alike.

With regular starter Mohamed Amine Tougai unavailable, it seemed likely that Amamou would partner with Yassine Meriah in the heart of the defense.

However, head coach Miguel Cardoso opted to field left-back Mohamed Amine Ben Hmida instead.

This decision followed another surprising move during the penultimate match against US Monastir.

Despite being crowned champions at the end of that game, Amamou remained on the bench, further fueling speculation about his future at the club.

Amamou’s appearances have been limited this season, and with his contract set to expire at the end of the month, his departure from Park B seems imminent.

Given Yassine Meriah’s probable exit, retaining Amamou could have been a strategic move for the club to maintain defensive stability.

However, the likelihood of his stay appears slim.

Amamou’s situation underscores the challenges faced by players seeking consistent playing time and the dynamics within team selections that can significantly influence their careers.

As he prepares to move on, clubs looking for experienced defensive options will undoubtedly keep a close eye on his availability.
