CAF rejects reports of postponing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations
he Confederation of African Football (CAF) has rejected reports that the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has been rescheduled insisting no decision has made.
Various reports on several media outlets on Wednesday suggested that the tournament originally scheduled to take place in Morocco next June, have been delayed to the start of 2026.
But according to CAF General Secretary Veron Mosengo-Omba despite the scheduling challenges no decision has been made to change the timing of the tournament.
“For the men, we need to make sure that the dates that we’ll be choosing will be in the interests of the players,” said Mosengo-Omba, highlighting issues around the workload of the continent’s elite players.
“For this we need to balance different aspects and also discuss with our partners and then we complete [the dates]. Scheduling is a nightmare for everybody.”
With the continuous growth and popularity of African football, the decision to change the timing of the tournament will have to be taken by the highest decision making body of the organization which is the Executive Committee.
