The Nigerian national team faces a crucial juncture as they prepare for the third and fourth rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, with a significant change in their lineup. AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze, a key player for the Super Eagles, is doubtful for the upcoming matches due to an injury. In his absence, Sani Suleiman from Akwa United is poised to step in, according to local reports.

The Super Eagles, under the guidance of coach Finidi George, will begin their training camp on Saturday, June 1, ahead of the international break in June 2024.

Chukwueze’s injury has cast uncertainty over his participation, prompting the technical team to consider alternative options to maintain the squad’s competitive edge.

Suleiman, a dynamic winger for Akwa United, has emerged as the likely replacement for Chukwueze.

Known for his agility and attacking prowess, Suleiman has had an impressive season in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL), scoring ten goals and providing five assists in sixteen appearances.

His performance has caught the attention of the national team’s selectors, making him a strong candidate to fill the void left by Chukwueze.

If confirmed, Suleiman will join Enugu Rangers left-back Kenneth Igboke, who has been called up to replace Victor Osimhen, another key player who will be unavailable.

The Super Eagles’ upcoming fixtures include challenging matches against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana and Benin’s Cheetahs, games that are critical for their World Cup qualification hopes.

The inclusion of local talents like Suleiman highlights the depth of Nigeria’s footballing talent and the potential of domestic players to make an impact on the international stage.

Suleiman’s electrifying style and ability to create scoring opportunities will be invaluable as Nigeria looks to secure crucial points in their qualification campaign.

As the team regroups, the focus will be on integrating these new players seamlessly into the squad and preparing them for the high-stakes matches ahead.

The Super Eagles’ resilience and adaptability will be tested, but with promising talents like Suleiman stepping up, the team remains optimistic about their chances.

Nigerian fans will be eagerly watching the developments, hopeful that the squad can overcome these challenges and continue their journey towards the 2026 World Cup.

The upcoming matches will not only test the team’s depth but also provide an opportunity for emerging players to shine on the international stage.
