The Egyptian newspaper Al Ahram has named Tunisian swimmer Oussama Mellouli as the Arab Sportsman of the Year. The Olympic champion topped the list ahead of Algerian athlete Makhloufi and Egyptian wrestler Jabeur. In football, the Egyptian club Al Ahly was voted the best Arab team, surpassing Tunisian side Esperance, Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad Jeddah, and Kuwaiti club Al Kuwait. The coach of Al Ahly, Houssem Badri, received the title of the best coach, while Algerian referee Jamel Himoudi was named the best referee.
