The president of the Algerian football federation, Mohamed Raouraoua, has emphasized that the future of the national coach, Vahid Halilhodzic, is not solely tied to the results of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (CAN). Raouraoua stated that Halilhodzic will remain the coach even if the team does not achieve its objective in the CAN, as the focus is on the subsequent qualification for the 2014 World Cup. Raouraoua added that Vahid Halilhodzic, who has received interest from France and Qatar, cannot leave without the approval of the Algerian Football Federation (FAF). Halilhodzic has been the coach since July 2011, with a contract running until 2014.
