Union Jeddah overhauls foreign player roster
Today, Tuesday, a journalistic report delves into the foreign players departing from the ranks of Saudi Arabian football club Union Jeddah in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Saudi newspaper “Okaz,” the quintet comprising Egyptian Ahmed Hegazi, Italian Felipe Luiz, Portuguese Guta, Moroccan Abderrazak Hamdallah “Intizar,” and Brazilians Marcelo Grohe and Romarinho will be excluded from “the Dean’s” future plans.
While Abderrazak Hamdallah’s contract extends until 2025, the contracts of Ahmed Hegazi, Felipe, and Guta are set to expire in 2026.
“Okaz” indicates that efforts will be made to market the contracts of Ahmed Hegazi, Felipe, Guta, and Hamdallah during the summer transfer window, should their tactical necessity diminish, either through selling them or loaning them out to interested clubs.
In contrast, Frenchman Karim Benzema and compatriot N’Golo Kante, alongside Brazilian Fabinho, stand at the forefront of foreign players continuing with the team, with no new developments anticipated. Their professional contracts with “the Dean” expire in 2026.
The fate of some local players will be determined after the conclusion of the current season, with players set to be officially notified for the purpose of marketing those whose professional contracts are expiring, either through selling them or loaning them out to clubs seeking their technical services in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Saudi newspaper concludes its report by stating that Union Jeddah officials are striving to prepare a team comprising a blend of experienced and young players capable of competing for titles in the forthcoming years.
Coordination is underway to establish a training camp in one of the European countries to uniquely prepare “the Dean” for the new season.
