Mohamed El-Shennawy sparks controversy with cryptic message ahead of Africa final
Mohamed El-Shennawy, the goalkeeper of Al-Ahly football team, has stirred widespread speculation on social media platforms with a mysterious message posted on his Instagram account.
El-Shennawy shared a photo of himself from Al-Ahly’s training session with the caption “Loading,” sparking speculation about his potential return to play a crucial role in Al-Ahly’s matches.
Speculations arose following rumors suggesting El-Shennawy’s desire to reclaim his starting position amid Mustafa Schubert’s regular appearances, relegating El-Shennawy to the substitutes’ bench.
According to recent reports by “Al-Watan Sport,” Mohamed El-Shennawy will join Al-Ahly’s squad in Tunisia after being deemed fit both technically and medically.
Al-Ahly is gearing up to face Tunisian side Esperance, with the first leg scheduled to take place on Saturday at the Rades Stadium. The return leg will be held at Cairo International Stadium on Saturday, May 25.
El-Shennawy has actively participated in Al-Ahly’s training sessions recently after completing his rehabilitation program following a shoulder injury sustained while representing Egypt in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
As for the travel arrangements, Al-Ahly’s squad will depart for Tunisia on Wednesday, following their training session. The team will train in Tunisia on Thursday and Friday before the crucial match against Esperance on Saturday night.
