Liverpool icon Graeme Souness has launched a critique of Mohamed Salah, branding the prolific Egyptian forward as a selfish player amidst mounting speculation about his future.

Despite Salah’s consistent prowess as Liverpool’s leading attacker in recent campaigns, the spotlight has turned on him amid the Reds’ recent setbacks across multiple competitions.

Speaking candidly on William Hill’s Three Up Front podcast, Souness didn’t mince words as he weighed in on Salah’s perceived attitude and potential departure from Liverpool.

“I believe Mohamed Salah is eyeing an exit from Liverpool,” remarked Souness, emphasizing the significant impact Salah could have in the Saudi Pro League should he make the move.

Acknowledging Salah’s undeniable talent, Souness suggested that the player’s self-assured demeanor might have contributed to recent tensions within the team.

“He no doubt has an exceptionally large opinion of himself, and he’ll have been angry at not starting the game against West Ham last week,” noted Souness, alluding to a recent incident involving Salah and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Reflecting on Salah’s reaction to being substituted, Souness highlighted what he perceived as a pattern of discontent.

“I think the situation with Jurgen Klopp was a reaction to only being brought on with 10 minutes to go – it was more Salah than it was Klopp in that confrontation,” observed the former Liverpool stalwart.

Drawing attention to Salah’s on-field behavior, Souness didn’t shy away from criticism. “Salah is the most selfish player I have ever witnessed.

Even prior to that game, whenever Klopp takes him off, he is never happy about it,” asserted Souness, underscoring a recurring source of friction between player and manager.

As speculation swirls around Salah’s future at Liverpool, Souness’s remarks add fuel to the ongoing debate surrounding the enigmatic forward’s next career move.
