Morocco’s U20 national team, the Lion Cubs of the Atlas, will face challenges in their upcoming African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Togo due to the absence of two key players, Mohammed El Bouazzati and Sofiane Amrabat.
Mohammed El Bouazzati, who played in the first leg in Lomé, will miss the return match due to commitments with his club, Borussia Dortmund. He was allowed to join the team for only one match of this doubleheader, with the first leg being chosen after consultation with coach Abdellah El Idrissi.
Sofiane Amrabat will also be unavailable for the crucial match. His club, FC Utrecht, cited multiple commitments for the player, including school exams and an important club match. Despite the match against Togo not aligning with FIFA dates, the national coach remains hopeful that Amrabat will join the team as soon as possible.
In the first leg, Morocco secured a 2-0 victory in Lomé. Seven European-based players have confirmed their availability for the return match against Togo, including Karim Achahbar (EA Guiguamp), Chihab Fallat (AJ Auxerre), Younes Boudadi (Club Bruges), Oussayd Belkouche (Club Bruges), Achraf Achaoui (Standard de Liège), Nabil Jaadi (Udinese Calcio), and Hicham Khaloua (US Almeria).
