Cameroon’s preparation for the 2014 World Cup hit a snag as the scheduled friendly match against Guatemala had to be canceled. The match was initially set to take place on June 7 in Yaoundé, but Fecafoot, the Cameroonian Football Federation, announced the cancellation without providing a specific reason.
This cancellation comes as the Indomitable Lions begin their training camp in Austria. The match against Guatemala was the last friendly game planned before Cameroon’s departure for Brazil.
Interestingly, this is not the first time a friendly match involving an African team and Guatemala has been canceled. Ghana had also postponed a match against Guatemala last April.
Fecafoot has assured that they will find another opponent for the Lions to play on June 7 to continue their World Cup preparations.
