Alain Giresse, the national coach of the Senegal Lions, has unveiled the list of 23 players selected for the upcoming friendly matches against Burkina Faso. While notable absences such as Papis Cissé, Mame Biram Diouf, Henri Saivet, and Cheikh Mbengue have been confirmed, Diafra Sakho’s inclusion stands out.
However, Giresse emphasized that Sakho’s selection comes with a challenge: “Diafra this season has demonstrated a lot of good things. But, for these two meetings for which he was summoned, it is up to him to deserve his selection.” When questioned about whether Sakho’s inclusion was due to default, Giresse stated, “it is the circumstances which explain it.”
The list also features new arrivals such as Baye Oumar Niasse from Belediye in Turkey. Additionally, the returns of Pape Kouly Diop from Levante and Boukhary Drame from Chievo Verona are notable.
