Tottenham Hotspur has announced the sacking of manager Tim Sherwood, terminating his contract just six months after he took charge of the team following the departure of Portuguese manager André Villas-Boas. Despite initially facing challenges, Sherwood managed to turn things around for the club, guiding them to a Europa League spot ahead of teams like Manchester United.
One of Sherwood’s notable achievements was rejuvenating the form of Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor, who had been sidelined by his predecessor. Under Sherwood’s guidance, Adebayor flourished, finishing the season as Tottenham’s top scorer with 14 goals. This success seemed to foster a strong bond between the two.
Adebayor recently expressed his support for Sherwood, praising his managerial style and character: “He treats all the players the same way. He’s a great man. He is a friend, and as a former footballer, he knows exactly what this job entails,” said the Togolese international.
