The tragic incident at the Vita Club – TP Mazembe match in the Democratic Republic of Congo has left the football community in shock. The stampede led to the unfortunate deaths of 15 people due to a collapsed wall and gate at the Tata Raphael stadium in Kinshasa.

In response to this tragic event, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has taken immediate action. CAF President Issa Hayatou has reached out to the Congolese football federation, urging them to thoroughly investigate the incident and determine the cause of the tragedy. Additionally, CAF has expressed its commitment to combating all forms of violence in football.

Locally, the governor of Kinshasa, André Kimbuta, has established a commission of inquiry to identify the responsible parties and ensure that appropriate actions are taken against those found guilty.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of ensuring safety and security at football matches and the need for strict measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
