South Africa head coach Hugo Broos has chided his opponents Morocco as they set up a Round of 16 clash in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire.
The Bafana Bafana finished in second place in a group that comprised Mali, Namibia, and Tunisia.
After losing against Mali, they made a rebound to beat Namibia 4-0 before settling for a goalless draw against Tunisia in the last group encounter.
Speaking ahead of the game, the Broos affirmed that;
“The Moroccan national team was not good in the group stage. We followed them and knew very well that we were capable of beating them.
“We did this a little while ago, and we have no doubt we will do it again. My confidence of us making the quarter finals is high.” He said
The AFCON 2017 winning coach has done a massive job for the Rainbow nation as he returned them back into the Africa Cup of Nations after missing out in the last in Cameroon.
South Africa had a quarter-final finish the last time they appeared in the AFCON as they lost 2-1 against Nigeria in Egypt 2019, which Hugo Broos have firm belief the Bafana Bafana can possibly achieve.
On their way to achieving that feat is Africa’s first-time semi-finalists at the World Cup, Morocco, a team that topped Group F in the tournament in Cote d’Ivoire.
