37th Tour du Faso: Netherlands win opening stage as Souleymane Kone finishes second

The Netherlands won the opening stage of the 37th Tour du Faso on Friday, 30 October 2026, with Souleymane Kone taking second place for Burkina Faso.

The 152.15km stage ran from Ouagadougou to Kaya. Kone’s podium finish ensured the host nation made an immediate impact, while fellow Burkinabe rider Paul Daumont crossed the line in fifth.

Kone was the leading Burkina Faso rider at the first finish, securing a strong result in the opening stage of the competition.

The performance gives Burkina Faso a promising start to the 37th edition. Its riders will now look to build on that result throughout the remaining stages as they aim to challenge near the front of the race.
