Ghana striker Antoine Semenyo believes Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup is firmly within their control as they push for a spot on football’s biggest stage.
After a shaky start to the qualifiers, the Black Stars have regained momentum with three consecutive victories, including a resounding 5-0 win over Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium last weekend.
Their recent performances have propelled them to the top of Group I, keeping their World Cup hopes alive.
Semenyo, who found the net in the dominant display against Chad, emphasized the significance of playing on the global stage, describing it as the dream of every footballer.
He urged his teammates to remain focused and secure a crucial win against Madagascar to strengthen their qualification bid.
“I think anyone wants to play at the World Cup; not many players can say they’ve played at the World Cup. So, we have such a good opportunity to qualify now. First, we need to win these two games,” he told SuperSport.
He further highlighted the privilege of competing in such a prestigious tournament, adding: “Playing on the biggest stage in the world, everyone loves to play, but not everyone loves to watch players play in the World Cup.
“So for us, we’ve got the opportunity in our hands, so we just need to take it,” he added.
Ghana will travel to Al Hoceima Grand Stadium for their Matchday Six clash against Madagascar, with kick-off scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
