On Thursday, it was announced that South Africa will be based in Pachuca, Mexico, for the tournament.
The announcement was attended by South Africa’s head coach Hugo Broos and team manager Vincent Tseka, alongside Grupo Pachuca’s international vice-president, Pedro Cedillo Martínez, and other local officials.
Martínez revealed that Bafana will train in Pachuca from 1 to 27 June, expressing pride in welcoming the squad to the region.
“Our relationship with FIFA Mexico has been key to building this path since the moment we proposed that Pachuca be the first city with the possibility of being a ‘Team Base Camp’ without being a host city.
“Pachuca is the ‘Cradle of Football’ and our responsibility is to honor that history by always being the place where it all begins,” Cedillo Martínez emphasized.
“Today we proudly welcome the South African National Team from 1 to 27 June 2026, along with its players, management, coaching staff, and the entire South African community who will honour us with their presence.
“Pachuca is their home. The ‘Team Base Camp,’ comprised of the Camino Real Hotel in Pachuca and the University of Football, represents the best of our operational capacity, infrastructure, and commitment to service.”
