Head coach of Sudan James Kwesi Appiah feels his sides should have beaten Senegal in the fifth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The Falcons of Jediane held the Taranga Lions of Senegal to a pulsating goalless draw last week, as both teams struggled to find the back of the net.
Appiah’s outfit created several goalscoring opportunities in the match but were unable to utilize their chances as the game ended in a draw.
The former Black Stars tactician has expressed satisfaction with the result that kept the Falcons of Jediane at the top, but stressed that his team “deserved the win.”
Appiah was left to rue missed chances in the match, believing the team could secure victory if they had taken their chances.
The Falcons of Jediane maintained their lead in the group with 11 points, followed by DR Congo with 10 points.
Senegal is ranked third with (9) points, followed by Togo (4) points, then Mauritania (2), and South Sudan is at the bottom with one point.
Sudan will take on South Sudan in the sixth round of the qualifiers on Tuesday at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium (Libya).
