2026 World Cup qualifiers: Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah eyes victory over South Sudan to maintain top spot

Sudan’s World Cup preparations back on track as Kwesi Appiah joins squad

Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah has set sights on securing a win against South Sudan in the sixth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Falcons of Jediane will take on South Sudan at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium (Libya) on Tuesday. However, the Ghanaian gaffer has confirmed his outfit readiness for the upcoming clash against their opponent.

Heading into the game on the back of a draw against Senegal, Appiah has set sights on snatching maximum points over their opponent to maintain top spot in the qualifying series.

Meanwhile, Appiah has expressed his outfit should have beaten Senegal for maximum points considering their performance throughout the match.

The Falcons of Jediane held the Taranga Lions of Senegal to a pulsating goalless draw last week.

Sudan maintained their lead in the group with 11 points, followed by DR Congo with 10 points.

Senegal is ranked third with (9) points, followed by Togo (4) points, then Mauritania (2), and South Sudan is at the bottom with one point.
