The head coach of Senegal, Pape Thiaw has expressed his determination to guide his team to victory against Togo in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup next week.
The gaffer was left disappointed on Saturday after his team was held to a goalless draw in their Round 5 encounter in Group B.
Speaking in a post-match interview, coach Pape Thiaw stressed that it is important for his team to get back to winning ways immediately.
“We came here to take three points, but there are still five games left. We won’t be able to count the difference until October. We must bounce back quickly against Togo to stay in the race,” the Senegal head coach stated.
Despite the setback against Sudan, Senegal remains a favourite to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup from Group B.
In Round 6 of the qualifiers, Senegal will take on Togo on Tuesday, March 25.
A win will improve Senegal’s position in the Group B standings to finish the March international break on a positive note.
